Evan Scronce / Enterprise AI & design

At the boundary of intelligence and institutions.

I’m Evan Scronce. My work connects human-centered AI strategy, design leadership, and the operating reality of complex enterprises.

At John Deere, my role is Head of UX | Human-Centered AI Strategy | Global Manufacturing and Internal Business. I previously led UX for Global John Deere Financial. My focus is how intelligent systems participate in the decisions that organizations need to understand, authorize, and carry through.

The question I keep returning to is what an organization must know about itself for AI to act usefully within it. Its goals can conflict. Its knowledge is distributed. Its policies have owners. Its commitments create consequences beyond the interface. A coherent AI strategy has to account for those conditions.

I approach this through design: making assumptions visible, distinguishing a recommendation from an authorized action, and creating ways for people to inspect and correct what happens. My writing develops that practical perspective into a working theory of enterprise intelligence.

I draw on established ideas in decision theory and control while separating those foundations from my own proposals. Each theoretical essay names a mechanism, considers a counterexample, and suggests an experiment. This is a developing intellectual agenda, not a claim that its hypotheses are already proven.
